I have loved all forms of creative writing since I was young, writing short stories, poetry, and even two (unpublished) novels.

Uplift is my debut novel--and most unusual! I was inspired to write it to give birds and other nonhuman characters a voice, as I have noticed that we people tend to overlook them because they don't speak our language.

I believe that  a compelling, relatable story can help inspire greater respect and compassion for birds and other creatures.

Being in nature is where I feel most at home. It has been a constant source of joy and inspiration for as long as I can remember.

I have always been curious and enjoyed learning about the natural world, and this led me to become a naturalist. I am co-founder of  a naturalist group  of volunteers dedicated to conservation and stewardship of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
